Values 4-6

4. Bless, belong, believe, become

Our first call as God’s people is to be a blessing to the world and part of that blessing is to allow people to belong to our loving, worshipping Christian communities, without having to sign on the dotted line or sort themselves out first. As we do this, we’ll find that people encounter the love of Jesus and start to believe in him and as they do, they’ll start to become the people that God created them to be.

“…and you will be a blessing.”

Questions

  • How can your community be a ‘blessing’ to your estate?
  • In what ways can you make your community more welcoming?

5. Local leadership

We are all made in God’s image and he’s given each one of us gifts and skills. So, we can’t wait for others to lead in our community; we need to stand up and be the leaders God has called us to be. Our leadership may look different from other leaders we know but if we keep journeying with Jesus, he will help us to become the leaders he has created us to be.

“God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;”
“…and you will be a blessing.”

Questions

What are the gifts and skills you have that you can offer your community?

In what ways could you be more involved in leading in your community?

6. Everyone gets to play

God has given us all different gifts and skills but he’s also given us all different
good works to do. Remember everyone gets to play. There is a place for everyone to serve because, as we serve, it kickstarts a kingdom movement that facilitates
healing and wholeness. We shouldn’t deny anyone the gift of being able to serve.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Questions

  • How does your community make sure ‘everyone gets to play’?
  • What are the ways that you could encourage more members of the community to get involved in the work of your community?
