Reflecting on five years of Loughborough church planting

Revd Michael Broadley, Revd Kat Marjoribanks and Revd Ben Gardner reflect on the lessons they have learnt in partnering to plant STB Grange Park.

In 2017 Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester, asked the churches of Leicestershire if they wanted to become ‘Resourcing Churches’, growing new Christian communities to reach the 93% of people in the diocese who had no contact with church.

Emmanuel Loughborough, in partnership with the Good Shepherd church, were one of the six churches in the Diocese of Leicester to answer the call, forming The Loughborough Resourcing Church Partnership. Out of this relationship, alongside lots of planning, prayer and generosity, STB Grange Park was planted in September 2019 – a new worshipping community on a new estate in South Loughborough.

Five years on, three members of the Loughborough Resourcing Church Partnership – Revd Michael Broadley, Revd Kat Marjoribanks and Revd Ben Gardner – reflected on this planting adventure, noting the costs and discussing hopes for the future.
