Shannon Walsh faced many challenges when growing up. After dropping out of a college course she started a childcare apprenticeship, but was unable to continue when she became pregnant with her son. When social services told her and her partner to separate, Shannon effectively became a single parent at 19.
It was then that Shannon and a friend were invited to sign up for an enterprise programme at Hope Café – a social enterprise based at St Barnabas Church in North Finchley, London. Here Shannon learnt key café and food skills, gaining input from a mentor that would prove transformational.
Hear how Shannon restored her sense of hope at Hope Café, becoming assistant manager, overseeing others in their work and discipleship.
