Alan Moss

Alan began working with Chelmsford Diocese in 2025 to serve those working with, or who want to start engaging with, young people on estates and in areas of significant deprivation across Essex and five East London Boroughs.

Prior to this he was leading an SDF project on two estates in Walthamstow, where he served 350 young people every week. Alan employed the practices of community organising to empower residents to create positive, meaningful change, and in so doing, helped people make the connection between faith and action.

Alan has over 25 years of experience in youth work. He previously planted a church for young people, and also supported the Diocese of Chelmsford in developing its digital mission programme. Alan was brought up on an East London estate, and has a background in welding, landscape gardening, and a love of tattoos. He is married to Sarah, also a Church of England priest.
