Listening to the voice of the lay planter report launch

Hear Emma’s story, of coming to faith in Jesus Christ and experiencing a transformation that inspired her to start a church to help others encounter Jesus.

Myriad has released the findings of a piece of research into the experiences of lay church planters, culminating in 10 recommendations to help shape the future equipping and resourcing of lay church planters around the UK.

Commissioned in Autumn 2021, the Myriad team interviewed 20 lay church planters from 13 dioceses across the Church of England, who had each planted a new church community. The resulting report highlights the experiences of lay planters like Emma Miles, who leads a new church community on the West Hill estate where she grew up in Bridlington, a coastal town in East Yorkshire.

Watch the video below to hear Emma’s story, of coming to faith in Jesus Christ and experiencing a transformation that inspired her to start a church to help others encounter Jesus, and the significance of the support and encouragement provided by Revd Mark Carey, the Parish Priest of Christ Church, Bridlington.

The full report ‘Listening to the Voice of the Lay Planters’, with its recommendations and outline of the implications for the design and development of training for lay planters, can be read here.
