Marie Hunter

Leadership Coach

I am a professionally qualified coach with a Post Graduate Diploma in coaching. My approach to coaching is to provide a supportive and listening focussed session, to use my intuition to ask the most helpful questions and encourage the individual to identify actions to help them solve issues and reach goals. My coaching style fuses a person-centred, calm and learningful approach, with a sharp focus on pragmatic actions.

Having been brought up in the Church of England, I was de-churched for almost 40 years. My faith journey was re-ignited in 2014 and I was confirmed in September 2018. As part of my preparation for being confirmed, I asked God where I could best use my gifts. I am delighted and thankful to God that I am now working as a Church Growth Coach.

Within my own Church, I am now part of a small team that runs Parish Worship and have recently completed Authorised Lay Ministry training. I sit on our PCC, and I am part of a team in my Diocese working to provide a sustainable future for churches.

I have worked as a coach in many different organisations and contexts for over 20 years. In my experience, coaching helps provide the individual with space to find their own way forward. Coaching provides time and space for leaders to talk through ideas and issues. Coaching helps by providing attentive listening and focussed questioning to help the leader examine what’s happening and what’s possible. By providing space for this focussed attention the person being coached will find their own way forward, and if it’s helpful I will share my experience of leadership and change (but only after the coach has explored all of their options and ideas).
