Serving Walthamstow’s estate communities

Alan Moss, Estates Youth Missional Lead for Chelmsford Diocese, shares his journey of serving the estate communities of Walthamstow, North London.

When Alan Moss joined St Mary’s, Walthamstow, he carried a vision of planting a church on its nearby estates. He was determined not to become a youth worker, a vocation he had many years of experience in, but was eager to move on from.

But as Alan explored and prayer walked the neighbourhood, speaking to local residents, a consistent thread emerged. Everyone’s lives were impacted by a single topic – the young people of area lacked support.
