Why Gregory? - CCX

Gregory the Great was a reluctant leader of the Church of Rome in the late 6th century. Plucked from the business world, he embraced the call of God to become pope amidst the collapsing Roman Empire. Part of his legacy was the vision for a nation: to see England transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Gregory sent Saint Augustine in 597 AD with a team to evangelise England, by planting churches and raising up indigenous leaders in each city, town and village. The Gregory Centre for Church Multiplication (CCX) grasps this legacy afresh to support the current church planting movement.
