Rochelle Bond outlines five steps towards improving your church website

Outline

Rochelle Bond talks about how important your website is and how to optimise it for people to find out more about your church.

1. Be clear about your offer. Tell people concisely about your church vision.
2. Focus on the steps to get people from A to B.
3. Use clear call-to-actions (CTAs). What is the next step that a person can take to join your community?
4. How does the design help? Is your website cluttered and encyclopaedic, or clear and well spaced out with with a good flow to it?
5. Consider search engine optimisation to make sure that as many people can discover your church as possible.

Exercise

1. How is your website currently?

2. What are the clear messages you want people to see about your church?

3. What next steps will you take to make sure your website is clear for new people to find out about your church?

Note: There can be a conflict sometimes in using your website to reach out to new people and informing current members of information that is useful such as rotas or small group notices. Consider using another tool such as ChurchSuite software to manage rotas and inter-church messaging. ChurchSuite is available to anyone who signs up to the Grow course to try for 12 months and is full of useful tools to help manage church information.
