Nick & Linda Castle from CLO Coffee discuss the simple steps for great hospitality in churches

Exercise

Think about each of Nick & Linda’s points below. What do they mean for your church?

1. A connection: Stories of how God can use a moment of coffee.

2. A blessing to everyone: Imagine what entering your church could be like.

3. A simple system: Keep people focused from your team to the way you serve your coffee.

  • Ensure your team leader is someone with the gift of hospitality
  • Use the gift of admin to organise and support the hospitality leader
  • Keep the processes people-focused.

4. A real treat: Quality, Quality, Quality

Make your hospitality feel like a treat by serving ethical and sustainable beverages. Think about the following when welcoming people:

  • Create a coffee & tea menu
  • Flow of people
  • Signage
  • Cups
  • Music
  • Sweet treats
  • Make coffee available when people arrive

5. Hospitality is also a missional opportunity: Can we afford to not do good hospitality?

Serve a good coffee experience that stirs conversation and connection with your growing church
community.

  • Grow relationships in your current church community
  • Use coffee to create a warm welcome to anyone new
