Andy Blacknell outlines tips to help you foster and manage change in your church

Exercise

Work through the 8-step model for change (01:51)

  1. How can you establish a sense of urgency in your church?
  2. Who should be in your guiding coalition?
  3. How can you continue to develop your vision and strategy?
  4. What is your change vision and how are you communicating it?
  5. What concrete steps can you take to empower your team for broad-based action?
  6. What are some quick wins you could generate in your church?
  7. How can you create a habit of incorporating change in your church life?
  8. Have you effectively communicated your church values and culture? How are you incorporating new ways into that culture?

Think about how you are implementing the 6 change drivers (04:50)

  1. Leadership: Are you modelling the change you want to see in your church?
  2. Communication: Is your vision being communicated effectively?
  3. Measurement: How are you measuring your progress towards your goals?
  4. Learning: How confident is your team in the new skills they are learning to embrace change?
  5. Reward: What actions or attitudes are you rewarding in your church?
  6. Involvement: Does your team have the opportunity to weigh into the decision-making process?
