Planting a church is one of the most exciting adventures we can be part of – enabling new people in new places to encounter Jesus Christ through a new local Christian community.
This is part of the Church of England’s vision of a mixed ecology church – where parish churches are complemented by church plants, fresh expressions and a range of other creative Christian communities. We equip teams how to start new Christian Communities in our Plant, Pioneer and Estates Courses.
One aspect of church planting that requires particular thought in the Church of England is the legalities. This might include permission to plant where there is already another parish church using a Bishop’s Mission Order (BMO) or setting up a charity (e.g. a Charitable Incorporated Organisation or CIO) with a separate bank account.
