Growth curves to mapping – Team Time 1

It is now time for you to meet up as a group from your church to discuss what you have learned so far. Here are some tips and a suggested plan for you.

Get comfortable

1. Get comfortable, perhaps with cake and a cuppa. Allow at least 90 minutes for a session.

2. Open in prayer – ask God to speak to you through the videos and in your discussion.

3. Watch the first video and then ask what the group is thinking. Use the questions to help guide your conversation, but the most important thing is that everyone has an opportunity to speak and share their thoughts.

4. If the video raises questions you do not have answers for, jot them down and raise them with your coach or the Grow Course team.

5. Some conversations can be helped with the use of sticky notes or flipcharts. Don’t be afraid to be creative in how you capture your discussions.

6. At the end of the session, close in prayer and pray for your decisions and church.

Once you have gathered together, take some time to watch the mapping video together.

Discuss what you have learned so far (growth curve, vision, values, and mapping). You may wish to use the following diagram as a prompt:

Does anything stand out to you? Take it in turns to say what you think your vision is as a church. What is your purpose?

•  Is it simple, memorable and inspirational?
• How is it communicated and modelled?

Take it in turns to say what you think your values are.

• How are these values demonstrated?
• What should your values be if they are not already recorded?
